Terms of Service

Cleared Table (the “Service”), on the web and in our iPhone app, is operated by BuildMyMap LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company (“we,” “us”). By creating an account, joining a household, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account, and you confirm this when you first enter; household members under 18 take part only through an account held by their parent or guardian.

Sign-in is provided through Google. Each account belongs to exactly one household. Household admins control their household's membership and settings, including restriction settings that affect what the household sees. Configuring those settings accurately is the household's responsibility, not ours. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or harm other users.

Before first use, every member must acknowledge in the app that Cleared Table can make mistakes and that they will verify ingredient labels themselves, confirm they are 18 or older, and consent to the use of their table's health data as described in the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. Those acknowledgments are part of these Terms and are recorded with your account.

You keep ownership of recipes and content you create. By saving an original recipe or generating an AI-generated recipe, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and share it with other Cleared Table households (“The Commons”), with attribution to your household name. AI-generated recipes enter The Commons the moment they are generated, from any plan, and remain there even if you never keep them on your table or later remove them from it. Recipes clipped from other websites stay private to your household, retain a link to their source, and must only be saved for your household's personal use. You may only submit content you have the right to submit. We may remove any content at our discretion, including content that is unsafe, unlawful, infringing, or abusive.

Community content (including Commons recipes and any future contributor posts) is provided by users, not by us. We do not verify it and are not responsible for it. Your household's restriction settings are applied to it informationally, subject to the safety terms above. To report a Commons recipe that is offensive, infringing or wrong, email us at the address below.

Cook Up creates new recipes with artificial intelligence, constrained to ingredients your household has cleared. AI output can still be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable. It is provided for inspiration and organization only and is subject to the safety terms above. Recipes cooked up with AI and AI dish photos are labeled as AI; a dish photo is an illustration, not a photo of the actual dish.

Cleared Table is free to download and use on the Lite plan, which includes the features and limits described in the app, currently one Cook Up recipe a month and seats for two people. Full unlocks the rest, including Cook Up all month under a fair-use limit, the full grocery list with store prices and aisles, The Commons, custom foods to avoid and seats for up to eight people at your table.

Subscriptions. Full is an auto-renewing subscription bought in the iPhone app through Apple, currently $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year (prices in other countries are shown in the App Store), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase, or at the end of the free trial if you do not cancel before it ends. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage and cancel it in your Apple account settings; deleting the app does not cancel it. One subscription covers everyone at your table.

Refunds. Apple handles billing and refunds for purchases made in the app under its own terms; request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves.

Changes. The Service is in active development: features, limits and prices may change, and we may modify or discontinue parts of the Service. If we raise the price of a subscription you already have, you will be told in advance and can cancel before it takes effect. Full granted by us at no charge during the founding period may end when we introduce paid plans in your region, and we will say so in the app first.

The Service uses third parties (sign-in, hosting, database, AI, and product/price data providers). Product information such as prices, aisles, and availability comes from third-party sources, including Kroger, and can be inaccurate or stale. Third-party services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. Cleared Table is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Kroger Co., Harris Teeter, Instacart, Google, Apple, or Anthropic; their names are used only to describe where information comes from or where it goes.

The Service, including the Cleared Table name, design, and software, is owned by BuildMyMap LLC and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your household's personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, scrape, resell, reverse-engineer, or misuse the Service.

If you believe content on Cleared Table infringes your copyright, email us at the address below with: the work you believe is infringed, where it appears on Cleared Table, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own or are authorized to act for the owner of the rights. We remove infringing content and may close the accounts of repeat infringers. Formal notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act go to our designated agent, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office under BuildMyMap LLC (registration DMCA-1079264): Copyright Agent, BuildMyMap LLC, 1319 Military Cutoff Rd, Suite CC #127, Wilmington, NC 28405; phone 910-623-8419; info@buildmymap.com.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WITHOUT LIMITING THE SAFETY TERMS ABOVE, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE OR ITS INFORMATION IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, SAFE FOR ANY PARTICULAR DIET OR CONDITION, OR UNINTERRUPTED.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUILDMYMAP LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, ILLNESS, ALLERGIC REACTION, OR HEALTH OUTCOME ARISING FROM FOOD DECISIONS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

You agree to defend and hold harmless BuildMyMap LLC from claims and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Any claim must be brought within one year of when it arose, where permitted by law.

If you downloaded Cleared Table from Apple's App Store: these Terms are between you and BuildMyMap LLC, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content. Your license to use the app is limited to Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's App Store terms allow. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price you paid for the app, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property; we are, to the extent these Terms provide. You confirm you are not located in a country under a U.S. government embargo and are not on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the effective date above will change. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
