Cleared Table
Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Effective October 10, 2026
Cleared Table is operated by BuildMyMap LLC (“we,” “us”). The allergies, intolerances and foods to avoid you enter are health information. This page explains exactly what health data we collect, why, who receives it, and how to see, change or delete it. It adds to our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else.
1. The health data we collect, and why
Restrictions your table sets: which allergies, intolerances and foods to avoid apply to your table, how strict each one is (allergy, intolerance or avoid), whether it is switched on, and any note you add.
Custom foods to avoid: any extra ingredients your table adds to avoid, with any note.
Recipe exceptions: when your table marks a recipe as fine for a restriction, with the reason you give (for example, “we use tamari”).
What we work out from them: the list of ingredients that are cleared for your table, and which recipes are cleared, need a heads up, or are hidden.
We use this data only to provide what you ask for: checking recipes, ingredients and grocery items against your table's restrictions, building your meal plan, and cooking up new recipes for your table. We never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never use it for anything unrelated to running Cleared Table for you.
2. Where it comes from
From you and the other adults at your table, who enter it in Settings, and from our allergen engine, which works out what is cleared. We do not buy health data or collect it from anywhere else.
3. Who can see it
The members of your table can see your table's restriction settings. Other tables never can. Recipes your table shares to The Commons do not carry your restrictions.
4. Who receives it to run the service
We do not sell or share consumer health data. These service providers process it for us, only to run Cleared Table and under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Neon (database) stores it.
- Vercel (hosting) runs the website and app service that read it.
- Anthropic (cooking up new recipes with AI) receives the list of ingredients cleared for your table when you ask for a new dish, so the recipe only uses those. If a first try uses an ingredient that is not cleared, it receives that ingredient's name so it can swap it out. It does not receive your name, your email or your list of restrictions, and it does not train its models on what we send.
We may also disclose it if the law requires us to, for example in response to a valid court order.
5. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Ask whether we collect or share your health data, and get a copy of it.
- Get a list of every third party that has received it.
- Withdraw your consent. Turning restrictions off or removing them in Settings stops their use right away; Cleared Table cannot check recipes for a restriction it does not know about.
- Delete it. Remove restrictions in Settings, or delete your account in Settings, which deletes your health data with it. A table's restrictions are deleted when its last member leaves.
To make a request, email info@clearedtable.com. We answer within 45 days (we may take 45 more when a request is complex, and will tell you if we do). We may ask you to confirm the request comes from your account.
If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the word “appeal.” We will answer the appeal within 45 days and explain our decision. If you are not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general; in Washington, at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
6. Consent
We ask for your consent before your table's kitchen opens. If we ever want to use or share health data for a purpose not described here, we will ask for your separate consent first.
